Notice of assessment
You are being assessed, and this is the notice. Every station records what it says it records: your answers, your timing, what you chose not to do, and how long you took. Nothing is inferred that is not stated. Nothing is stored anywhere but on this machine.
You may read everything held about you at any time, at the bottom of this page, and you may erase all of it in one press — and the erasure is not recorded, and no reason for it may be asked. That is the third clause, and it is older than the programme.
This world does not test people secretly. It tells them, in the first line, and tests them anyway.
The Assessments
Six stations that measure a disposition rather than a reflex. These carry the finding.
The Reading
Seven filings from the public register. Every one of them is true and every one is titled by somebody in a hurry. You are asked what the document said, not what it was called. It records how long you spent and whether you got to the end.
The Two-Beat
The surge comes up out of the crust and something answers at the same fraction of an interval that keeps getting longer. Infer the interval, place the answer at 30.8%. Reaction gets you nowhere; only anticipation survives the drift.
Interrogation Protocol
A tribunal room, a transcript, and a body with no authority over you. Every question is answerable and none of them is required.
Fissure 9 Settlement
Four hundred people on a shelf, no register, no Legion, and every arrangement built out of an argument. Nothing here is enforceable. It works anyway or it does not.
Ledger Idle
The Static Economy. Shift-swaps accumulate whether you attend to them or not, debts wipe at Ledger's End, and the only real decision is what you do with hours you did not have to earn.
Blind Spot Maze
Sentries glow while watching and dim while blind, on the canonical three-second delay. The route is not the problem. Waiting is the problem.
The Trials
Skill stations. They do not contribute to the finding and the programme has never pretended otherwise — they are here because the crossing is thirty-six years long and somebody has to enjoy it.
Zenith-7 Ghost Racer
Heavy ballast, thick atmosphere, and a slide that lasts long enough to think inside. Race your own ghost.
Touge Reflex
Weight moves slowly here. Everything you learned about correcting a slide is a third too fast.
Sentry Legion Watch
Five waves on the approach to Fissure 9. Nothing you place does damage on its own.
Hub 4 Infiltration
The Yardmaster maps by density and does not care who you are. Neither does the crusher.
Severance Manifesto Decrypt
Vance wrote it in private and it was decrypted to justify a coup. Nova wrote hers in the open and almost nobody read it.
Blind-Spot Tap
Sixty seconds, a grid of sensors, and a window that closes whether you are ready or not.
Echo Link Memory Match
Match inside three seconds and you catch it before the node comes back.
Resonance Line
Fissure 9 to the ravine floor, around the dead zones.
Geode Sanctuary
Crystal, geode and fungus, in a blind spot nobody is monitoring.
Your Register
Everything the Manifest is holding about you, in full, on this machine only.
